Free virus protection
If you are looking for a cheaper solution then paying around $70/year for Norton Antivirus, McAfee, or whoever else is out there, you should try AVG Free Edition. It is a Grisoft product that gives you basic protection with no technical support. Did I mention it is free? Of course, for only $52.95 you can purchase “complete protection” and technical support. I have been using the free version for over a year on multiple computers and I have never had a problem with viruses, worms, or spy-ware. This is a great download to have even if you use one of those proprietary programs, just in case your subscription runs out without you realizing it. Even the free version has features like a schedule to automatically run system scans, automatic updates, virus vault, and E-mail scanner. So next time you get an alert to update your virus subsciption, give AVG a try and save yourself some money.
